Seeing changes for plugin update

Kosta Kondratenko July 18, 2018

Hi,

I was just wondering - as I'm upgrading a plugin folder in Wordpress with the latest version of the plugin - I want to see which - if any - files have been modified in that particular folder (and see what modifications have been made). Is this possible to do with BitBucket/SourceTree?

Thanks

HI Kosta, I'm not sure I completely understand what you want to achieve. Sourcetree and Bitbucket are tools that will help you control files that you own. If you're using a system such as git, changes that you made to your files will be registered so you can have access to the log and history in the future, compare different versions of the same file etc.

If you don't own the file, or if the file is not using this system, you won't be able to compare the differences between the 2 of them.

Hope this answers your question!

Kind regards,

Ana

Hi Ana,

Thanks for your reply - let me clarify.

I am using BitBucket with Git (I assume) to host a repository which I keep updated with SourceTree.

Anyway recently I deleted a file and then committed the changes.

However what I want to do is to view the revision history of this file PRIOR to it geting deleted (as I had made revisions to it prior to that).

However in BitBucket I am unable to find the file I deleted. Of course I can see the file in my local computer - but this is only the most recent version of the file - what I would like to do is see a diff with this file that's been deleted in BitBucket.

Hope this clarifies what I am after.

Looking forward to your response.

Trying to paste link

Hi Ana,

I've created a Screencast video to show the issue more clearly but I can't seem to paste the URL here without getting an error - is there a way to share a URL with you in this message?

Thanks

Hi,

Since I can't send the URL of the screencast dot com site I am sending through the screencast id - just put this like this:

screencast dot com slash t slash d55QZxZhKbCv

That will explain the issue I am having more clearly.

Thanks!
