What is the difference between 'pullrequest.author' and 'actor' in PR webhook payload?

IlyaFinkelshteyn June 27, 2018

Seems like they contain the same data. Documentation says almost the same:

Hereauthor: The creator of the pull request.
Hereactor: The user who creates the pull request.

Which one should I use when parsing pull request webhook?

Hi @IlyaFinkelshteyn,

As far as can be seen, the only difference among event payloads is the parameter name, but the author and the actor parameter in each event payload refers to the same thing, i.e., to the person who creates the pull request.

Hopefully that clarifies what is going on.

Cheers,

Felipe
