Wish to Take Admin ownership of a repo, where I am a Viewer and the owner of the IP

I am a viewer in a repo. The Dev department individual of the company we used has disappeared and now I want to take ownership of the repo. The company we used are no longer in application development and I am having to use another organisation.

I've read this is possible if I am an admin, but not in this case.

How can I either destroy that repo content or take ownership to protect our ip.
