With stash hosted on our own servers, I'm wondering;

1) How do I create & commit a bare repository on the server inside a project?

2) Is a project the equivalent (or kinda close to the idea) of a "root' bare repository?

You can think of a Project as a collection of repositories.

You can logically group all your repositories using projects. For example you might have a product - "Product Awesome", which you would create a project for.

"Product Awesome" could consist of:

  • A repository for a Java webapp
  • Several repositories for plugins to your main Java project
  • Any other repository with code related to "Product Awesome"

A Project is however not a repository itself.

For help on creating a repository, I'd suggest you take a look at the Getting started with Stash and Creating repositories help articles.
