Me too

name@host:~/repos$ git push

Password for 'https://name@bitbucket.org':

remote: Because your Atlassian account admin requires single sign-on, you'll need to authenticate with an app password. Create an app password at https://bitbucket.org/account/admin/app-passwordsfatal: unable to access 'https://bitbucket.org/owner/repo.git/': The requested URL returned error: 403

I have been using this for 5 years. normally I enter the password and it works.

This is a linux command line, not some app that stores passwords, so I don't think app password is the solution.

is there something that needs changing in .git/config?

should I be using my google login name? (like I do for the web interface.)
