can't push, "Authentication failed"

hameren October 12, 2025

On xterm. "git push" requests password. I paste a recently generated API token. It says

remote: You may not have access to this repository or it no longer exists in this workspace. If you think this repository exists and you have access, make sure you are authenticated.
fatal: Authentication failed

Last commit was 2024-11-23. I used a generated password that time.

Hey @hameren

Welcome to the community.

Before pushing, have you tried doing a fresh clone of the repository with the new API token to see if that works? You can check our guide here on how to use the new API token to clone.

I would also suggest making sure that you are assigning a read/write repository scope to allow for clone and push permissions.

Let me know how it goes.

Syahrul
