I am new to ElasticSearch.

I installed ElasticSearch 7.1.1 on the same machine (Red Hat Linux 7.6) where BitBucket is installed. I have ElasticSearch launched successfully, and able to connect to the ElasticSearch instance in Server settings of Bitbucket. However search is not working, it keep saying search is unavailable.

We have Bitbucket Data center edition v.5.16.3. From reading various posts, data center edition require elasticsearch to be installed and run on a remote node, as it wont work with the bundled elasticsearch.

- So to clarify this, ElasticSearch cant be installed on the same box where Butbucket resides?

- Only certain version of ElasticSearch is supported by BitBucket?

Can anyone please clarify and what I need to do get Bitbucket working with ElasticSearch?

Hi Frank,

When using Bitbucket Data Center, Elasticsearch should always be installed on a separate node so that it can continue to work if you need to take one of the Bitbucket Data Center nodes down.

Bitbucket Data Center only supports specific versions of Elasticsearch, and 7.1.1 is not one of them. You can see the compatible versions at https://confluence.atlassian.com/bitbucketserver/supported-platforms-776640981.html
