Not really. There are a lot of operations that are done in the background that need to be able to write to the db (ldap user provisioning being one of them). Have you considered using Datacenter? That would allow you have multiple nodes (both active and standby).
Yes Daniel we are using data center instance. just want to be clear, is it any different from server instance in the sense of using database with read only permissions?
