@Partha Mandayam thanks for the suggestion -- we do have that ability in discussions and questions, but not in articles for some reason!

@Jodi LeBlanc our next badge is coming June 1 and then hopefully will be back to monthly. They won't all be time-limited, though! If you "Create alert" for the "challenge badge" search you should see all future announcements.

@Monique vdB I don't see any logic to have the facility only for discussions. Comment threads can be everywhere. When I read an article I may have comments on it or want to ask some clarifications and someone else will comment on that and thus a thread will be created. So the facility is needed in both discussions and articles.

Why should you want to, Jan? It's nothing you have to actively pursue and a few of them will just happen along the way of being an active member of the community. So nothing too intrusive.

@Jan Gähler you can disable badge notifications in your settings! 

Click your avatar, then Manage settings > Notifications > Settings, and under "Badges I earn" select "Never."

No competition really. Start by liking posts - that'll give you level 1

Then maybe ask a question and get to Level 2 and so on...
