Bringing on-call and incident information into Compass

When something goes wrong, whether it's an outage or a broken feature, team members need to respond immediately and restore service. This process is called incident management, and it’s an ongoing, complex challenge for companies big and small.

Compass provides deeper visibility into how incidents impact all software components in your distributed architecture while giving you a DevOps health platform to prevent future incidents. Our catalog helps you find important information about your software components when you need it, and metrics give you the data you need to understand past trends and prevent future incidents from occurring. The Activity Feed helps you visualize and correlate events for a component and its dependencies all in one place. With CheckOps, your whole team can reflect on and track action items post-incident, and you can use scorecards to help track key indicators indicative of future incidents.

With the new Opsgenie and PagerDuty apps for Compass, you can see your Incident events side-by-side other events on the Activity Feed, quickly determine who is on-call for a given component directly in Compass, and get powerful metrics with zero configuration. These apps are rolling out today. To get started, install and configure the integration you want from the “Apps” menu in Compass, then simply follow the instructions on the on-call card for any component.
