GitHub templates and Compass templates

I am looking to combine the use of the Compass template features combined with GitHub's repository template feature.   

In my testing, it seems like the template feature  will fork the Github template repository, instead of making a copy of the repository as I would expect.  In my situation, we don't want to fork the repo.

Is there any additional configuration that can be done in the templates to not fork the repositories?  Thx

Hey Ken I know we've chatted since you posted this but just adding an answer in case others find it.

No other configuration option today to allow for clone vs fork but it's something we'll look to add in the future.
