Owner team selection for Compass components

Our organisation has multiple independent Atlassian cloud instances (on different atlassian.net sub-domains). When selecting the owner for a Compass component:

  1. The list of teams presented is organisation wide, can this be limited to teams within the local instance?
  2. Unlike other drop-downs, the five teams offered for selection without filtering are not recently selected teams (they are always teams from other parts of our organisation)
  3. A different presentation is used for the Teams selection in the header menu ("Your teams" are listed, other teams have to be searched for). Could "Your teams" be promoted in the selection for component owner too?

Hey @Keith Furnell, thanks for the added context, it definitely makes answering your questions much easier.

  1. I took a look at the underlying API we're using to fetch that list of teams and unfortunately there doesn't appear to be a mechanism to limit the results to teams that are site/cloud instance scoped. I'll raise this internally as it seems generally useful, so thank you for pointing this out!
  2. I actually believe that your 2nd and 3rd points are related. In other parts of Compass (like the Team's header menu) we're applying a membership filter to our query, but not on the component overview page. I would assume this is the reason why you're getting a grab bag of results across your entire organization there, and more relevant results elsewhere. I'll talk to our product team and see if there is a specific reason we don't apply that same filter on the component overview page.
  3. Just to make sure I'm not missing anything on this point, are you saying you'd prefer the presentation of the component owner dropdown to have the same visual representation of the Team's header menu item (including the 'Your teams' header), or would simply applying the search filter under the hood and keeping the UI presentation as is work for you?

Let me know if I missed anything or if you have any other feedback for us!

Thanks for the response. I'd say that using an identical (Your Teams + team search) presentation as the Team's header menu, on the component overview page, might not make sense for users you are not members of multiple teams. In my opinion simply promoting Your Teams and/or recently selected teams in the drop-down would be most versatile.

@Keith Furnell cool, thanks for taking the time to provide the feedback! I just finished rolling out the change that promotes 'your teams' in the dropdown on the component overview page. You can also still type to search for a specific team name if those first 5 aren't quite what you were looking for. Let me know what you think!

Just noting here that there is a similar issue with the Owner team filter on the main component list - see https://community.atlassian.com/forums/Compass-questions/What-s-going-on-with-Compass-incremental-search-in-drop-downs/qaq-p/3033252
