What's going on with Compass incremental search in drop-downs?

As also mentioned for Label in https://community.atlassian.com/forums/Compass-questions/What-s-the-algorithm-for-colour-coding-and-auto-complete-of/qaq-p/2999348#M1550, the search function in drop-downs seems ... unpredictable.

Here's some concrete examples with the Owner team filter on the main components list:

• Searching for leading text works OK ✅
• But searching for internal text, doesn't work at all ❌
  
• And searching for trailing text, promotes unexpected matches ❌
  As a side note with this particular filter, there also seems little value in any case in suggesting teams that aren't associated with any components in the catalog, noting that teams can span multiple catalogs - see https://community.atlassian.com/forums/Compass-questions/Owner-team-selection-for-Compass-components/qaq-p/3022138#M1623
