Date field settings - Set current date as default value

We recently added a date field to our database & we wanted to set that field to default to the current date when a new row is created. Using the option to set the current date as the default date value in the field settings appears to accomplish this, but we've noticed any rows that were created the default date value continuously update to the current date. 

For example, we created 3 new rows with the default date value on 2024-04-04. A few days later, the dates for those rows showed the current date (2024-04-08) instead of the date value they were created with.

Has anyone else experienced the same behavior?

We just started seeing this as well! And this is not how the product used to work when it was Orderly Databases, or during the alpha release of Confluence databases. We believe this is a bug.
