Limits in size (Mb) and records for Databases?

There were earlier remarks and questions concerning limits in size and number of records (when it started, one database could only be 5Mb!). 

Is there an update so far concerning this? 

Are there size limits now (and in the future?)? (important when we start adding files and images to the dbase)

Are there limits on the number of records in one dbase?

Does the product team have a view on the performance of databases (taking into account the number of records having an impact on eg. loading)?

This is crucial info if I consider  building the future of my team and organization on this feature.

oui je suis d'accord, c'est une question fondamentale ! j'encode déjà bcp d'infos dans mes bases de données. ce sont pour moi des outils incontournables !
