Max amount of Views

Hey team,

Is there a maximum amount of views that can be saved against a single database and overall? I am creating databases that hold our location and equipment information, this is then saved as a filtered view and embedded into pages for each of our companies locations. This means that I could easily end up with hundreds of views filtered to each location. Or, is there an easier way of doing this using the tag function?

Also, I am experiencing issues where confluence page won't respond when I try to create card views.

Thanks so much :)

Hi @Zoe Prince this is Rachel from the Confluence Databases team. There is no maximum amount of views you can have either for a single database or across all of your databases.

At the moment, I believe your current approach with creating filtered views is the easiest way to solve your problem. I will share your use case with our team so we can take it into consideration as we continue to iterate on databases.

For the issues where the Confluence page doesn't respond when you try to create card views, does this also happen when you view the database by itself or just when viewing databases embedded on Confluence pages? And does this consistently happen on any database, or ex. only for larger databases?

Hi Rachel,

The non responding issue happens on both the Database and the page with an embedded card view, if I try to change to a card view. This seem to only be occurring consistently with one database, even if I recreate the data into another database. The database isn't very big, only 127 line items. However it does include: Tags, Images, Entry Links, Hyperlinks & Text fields.

Thanks Zoe

Hi @Zoe Prince, thanks for the information. Given that it only happens for one database, it might be easier for us to help you if you open a support ticket so that we can take a closer look at the database.

Hi @Rachel Li , can I ask if there are any plans to introduce a better way to embed databases into pages?

I have a similar scenario to Zoe whereby I have a 'master' database which contains information that applies to many different pages.  Each of these pages will embed the master database, defaulted to a relevant View that has essentially been created for this page.

I think it would be much better / easier if there were more granular controls at the embed level, where we can apply filters directly as part of the embed.  This would avoid the need to create many many Views, which are all visible in each embed.

This is something that Notion does really well and gives lots of flexibility, but control whenever you want to embed a related database into a page.
