when will you be adding the ability to transition a folder into a page?

I guess folders are OK for organizing content behind the scenes but they are not visible to the end user. I mean they are visible but not in a hypertexty way, where I can just click through rather than going back to the tree view every time. If I want my browsable content to match the underlying folder structure I have to create an index page in each folder that contains links to each document or sub-folder. This just seems to add unnecessary duplication. Why not have the option to create or generate index content at the folder level?

In some places we have a parent page which describes what the format of the pages under it should be. In one place we created a folder, but now want to convert it back to a parent page to give that context for the pages under it.

Folders are a very useful addition to structuring pages, thank you very much for that.

But is it possible that it is not possible to create a Confluence page via a Jira automation with a folder as the parent?
That is a real shame, as we have a use case where at the time the page is created it has not yet been decided which parent the page should ultimately be attached to.

Is it possible that this functionality will be rolled out in the foreseeable future?

Is there a way to change the icon per folder? We haven icons/emoji for every page, when converting them to folders, we get all the same icon, which is a downer.

Hey, I love this feature.

However I cannot change the owner of the "folder" from the Content Management view, it only applies to the sub-sites. Bugg or "feature"?

Do pages placed in the folder inherit restrictions like child pages do from parents?

Example: I restrict Folder "A" to have only me as an editor, can others places their pages in my folder?

Can I convert my folder back to a parent page? I prefer to have the child pages listed on the parent page.

Few major issues noticed during testing folders.

1. Folders do not appear in any searches. Not in Space Tree search or in Confluence wide search. Previously when you had an empty page as a "folder" that was searchable. Users did use top level page name to find the list of pages related to that topic.

2. Page order under folder isn't sortable with alphabetical sort from Space Settings -> Reorder. On folders with a lot of pages it is really annoying to sort pages by hand. And adding new pages you need to drag and drop pages to correct alphabetical order.

3. Unable to revert back from folder to page. It is a bit confusing what happens to page content if it has been converted to a folder. And if this was accidentally done, it should be revertable.

Nice!  Do you think it will be possible in the future to change the icon of a folder (use an emoji, for example)?  Emojis make folders and pages identifiable more quickly.  Thanks!
