Company Hub Navigation Changes Coming Soon

Hello Community,

There are some exciting changes coming to Company Hub over the next few weeks that will help to increase the accessibility and visibility of your Company Hub. Changes will begin to rollout starting on Mar 24, 2025 and continue over the next few weeks through April.

Company Hub is getting a new streamlined look.

As we’re pushing for Company Hub to look more site-like, we’re continuing to streamline the look and feel to focus on the content and avoid distractions. Your custom Company Hub name will show in all the below entrypoints, but may take up to 1 hour for it to show up in all places after a rename.

Company Hub entrypoint is moving to a new section on the new Confluence navigation.

Once published, Company Hub’s entrypoint will show up in a new section on the new Confluence navigation for everyone in the site.

Confluence Admins will see the entrypoint even if it’s not published. You will soon be able to show, reorder, and hide navigation items. Customizing the sidebar will affect only you and not anyone else on your site.

Company Hub is getting prominent placement in the App Switcher.

Once published, Company Hub is easily accessible in the App Switcher from any product, not just Confluence.

Company Hub entrypoint will be added to a new section on Atlassian Home.

Once published, Company Hub can be easily accessed from Atlassian Home as well so you can easily jump from your work to information about your workplace.

And saying “Goodbye” to Company Hub as an option for Confluence landing page.

If you’d like to retain the feature of having a prominent entrypoint to this page on the nav and as the default landing page, the workaround is to create a separate Confluence space, add the Company Hub content on that space, and set this space as the Confluence default landing page.
Please note that certain Company Hub features will only be available on Company Hub including Links Menu, Audience Segmentation, and the ability to apply your own custom hex values to Spotlights.

We hope these changes make accessing Company Hub more frictionless so it’s easier than ever for everyone within the organization to access important news, policies, and other important company information.

Thank you!
Morgan (Product Manager) & Lyubo (Software Engineer)

Hi Morgan,

This change is quite problematic for our company. I don’t fully understand why we can’t set the Company Hub as the landing page.

The workaround you suggested isn’t ideal because when we set a space as the landing page, users will see the page title, and it won’t be possible to design it as beautifully as the Company Hub.

Additionally, the Company Hub now opens in a new tab, which creates a poor user experience as it feels like switching to a different application.

The Company Hub was a great solution for setting up a structured landing page in Confluence, making navigation easier. With these changes, it no longer serves its purpose effectively.

Could you clarify the reasoning behind this change and whether there’s a way to maintain the benefits it provided?

Hi @Hanna Torany

Sorry about the unexpected change and last minute comms. We will do better next time to give more notice.

To provide more context, we have plans to transform Company Hub into a more full-fledged standalone intranet experience outside of Confluence with more powerful integrations, broadcasting capabilities, and analytics features. To give you a sense of some of the things we're exploring, check out our upcoming roadmap.

Sorry again about the frustrating change - I'm happy to jump on a call to share more on our plans if that's of interest to you. Feel free to reach out to me directly at mwang@atlassian.com and we can find a time to discuss further.

Thanks!
Morgan

Hello Morgan,

I have some questions about this update. I am still in the middle of designing and adding information to the Company Hub.

I had added an image to the header and my company's colors, and I started noticing last week that the colors were gone and had changed to a white navigation bar, which I didn't mind but today I noticed that the image header was gone and so was the company hub's title, some of the items lost their original format and for some reason I can't limit the access. I am wondering if these are side effects from the update.

Hi @Jonathan D you're experiencing some of the new changes that we've introduced as part of this feature release.

I recommend adding a /links menu to the top of your page and you can give the navigation bar a custom look and feel by change the text color and background color. Now with the removal of the title, header image, and page emoji, the links menu will sit flush to the top of the global navigation bar.

Which other items lost their original format?

Thanks!
Morgan

Thank you for your response Morgan.

I was also using the Karma app. The macro used to be extended to the full width of the hub, but now it's condensed. I don't know if I'll have to redesign the content in the macro because of this.

Also, I seem to be unable to limit the access to the hub, I see the message "You don’t have permission to change access to this content" despite being the only admin and after reviewing all of the permissions. This also occurred after the hub started to change.

Hello Morgan , you say the links menu will sit flush to the top of the global navigation ba, however it seems to not take the full width of the screen(see screenshot) - am i doing something wrong? Screenshot 2025-04-01 103242.png

I am also wondering if there is a way to have the page at full width like the photo at the top of this article. We currently use Karma for page formatting and the full width is gone. If we are trying to achieve a more website looking format, then I can't understand why there isn't an option for full width when there was prior to this change. Would love to know if there will be a solution to have the hub be full width or what is reasoning for not allowing full width. Thanks!

Hi all,

When you select the Links Menu, you should see some configuration options at the bottom. Select the one that's for full-width.

The same option should be available for Spotlight:

For any other elements that you'd like to make full-width, I recommend adding a /Section and adding elements inside the Section. You can make the Section and the contents within it full-width.

Hope this helps!

Hello @Morgan Wang

Mine shows like this:

I don't have the option to extend it.

Once I hit 'save', this is how it looks like:

I'd like to chime in in support of @Hanna Torany and say we have the exact same issue. We had the Company Hub page set up as a landing page for Confluence and a portal to all other Confluence spaces. Now suddenly, this feature is being turned into something we didn't think it would be used for, and the solution is to create a new Confluence space as a portal - exactly what we were doing before the Company Hub feature was rolled out. I just don't see why the feature we were happy with is being turned into something else, instead of a new feature being introduced.

I am with @Hanna Torany and @erica_bogosian on this one. Why did you have to hijack the Confluence Company Hub for a completely different purpose? Why not add optional hubs for each of your offerings and then a hub above that for all of them together? Different people use these products, and we need landing pages for all of them.  Is it that hard to provide a bit more infrastructure without cutting off the people who've used it exclusively for Confluence and spent time and money developing their Confluence hubs? Wouldn't be surprised if we'll see an expensive add-in for this shortly. Love Confluence, but very disappointed.

I'd also like to show my support with @Marta L. @erica_bogosian  and @Hanna Torany - I recently just spent a lot of time designing a portal for our employees on Confluence, allowing for an engaging and easy way to see company highlights and important information. Since the new update, a lot of the formatting has been lost, resulting in a poor looking page.

Since many people have used the Company Hub as a landing page for Confluence, it seems extraordinary that this option is being taken away from us.

Just wanted to jump in and say I'm totally on board with @Hanna Torany  @erica_bogosian @Marta L. @tim_brion on this. We've also put a lot of work into using the Company Hub for our Confluence portal, and these surprising changes have really thrown a wrench in things. The solution of having a space homepage as the landing page is not a seamless as the company hub was, not to mention the new /Links Menu and /Sections is not available outside of the company hub.
I strongly support the call for a solution that accommodates both the new functionality and the original use of the Company Hub as Confluence landing page.

@Jonathan D @Dana Bar Lavie Jones and anyone else experiencing Company Hub layout width issues:

Please file a support ticket here.

  1. Select Technical Issues and Bugs
  2. Select the impacted Confluence site
  3. In the description details, please mention: My Company Hub has layout width issues where full-width is rendering narrower than what appears on the editor.

We hope to fix this issue as swiftly as possible for you. We will be pushing out a fix over the next week+, but if you reach out to us, we will be able to address this for you sooner.

Thank you!
Morgan

Hi Team,

I just wanted to add that I followed the steps @Morgan Wang suggested on filing a ticket and they fixed the issue for me. This also fixed the Karma Macro which was also narrower than it was before the update.
@Morgan Wang  Thank you for the support.
