AWS, JSESSION Cookie

I have installed Confluence on an AWS server running Ubuntu. I can get to the Login screen, but I can't login. I have verified that my login and password are correct. The log error message indicates and my browser confirms that the problem is that I am not receiving the JESSION cookie, so Confluence thinks that my login is anonymous.

I am not an AWS expert. I assume that there must be a setting somewhere in AWS that will allow the JSESSION cookie to be communicated. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hello Derek,

You’re described issue looks to be a problem with the configuration of the AWS load balancer servicing Confluence. While you’re using Confluence server, the load balancer will still apply (Mainly designed for Confluence Data Center). We have multiple guides which help to ensure you’re configuring AWS to work with Confluence. These guides may be found at:

The last article linked above should give some insight and point you in the right direction for allowing sticky sessions within AWS.

I hope this proves helpful and you’re able to get logged into Confluence soon!

Regards,
Stephen Sifers
