In particular would like to create a template that includes the Multimedia macro, where the instructional text would tell the user to update the filename with the uploaded video file.

Hi Yaacov,

Inserting the Multimedia Macro does require you to insert a current page and attachment, and the same will go for when you insert into in a template.

My recommendation is to have some default page in Confluence with an attachment on it, and use that in your template when adding the macro.

Then, you can use the Instructional Text from the Template Toolbar (the icon looks like a page) and ask users to go in and manually edit the existing Multimedia Macro to point to the desired page and attachment.

I tried also doing it manually with typing the example from the Multimedia Macro but unfortunately it doesn't automatically generate the macro when done this way.

I hope this is clear but do let me know if you have any questions.

Regards,

Shannon
