Attachment Storage Missing

So, we wanted to manage the attachments of Confluence overall (e.g. pictures to upload to the dashboard). We read that in the general configuration, there's a "Attachment Storage" area to upload and manage files for Confluence overall, but we can't find this menu.

We're using the Server version of Confluence, with a filesystem. We were trying to find the "attachment storage" (https://confluence.atlassian.com/doc/attachment-storage-configuration-166876.html) that supposedly is under General Configuration->Attachment storage.

The only similar thing I could find is "Attachment Settings" but it doesn't work for what we wanted to do. Is there something wrong with our installation for Attachment Storage not to exist? Or is this menu deprecated? If so, how can we upload files to Confluence (not to individual pages)?

Hi Mariana,

this is a misunderstanding. There is no such thing as a central attachment storage in Confluence. You can store attachments only to Confluence pages.

Technically, the attachments are stored to the file system, to the database in earlier versions. General Configuration->Attachment storage is only for migration from database to file system when you are updating from an earlier Confluence version.

Cheers,

Kirstin

You can, however, attach attachments to one page and use them on another.

We have one space that is dedicated to content reuse, and there we collect e.g. images that are to be used in multiple places. They all are attached to one page and from there used on other pages. So, if we update the image on the central page, they will get updated on all related pages.

What I intended was to have images on the dasboard that I'm customizing with the .vm files. Where can I store the images to use on the dashboard?
