This question is in reference to Atlassian Documentation: Attachment Storage Configuration

Hi,

What if i am not able to store attachments in the local file system? Is it still possible to configure WebDAV or Database functionality and how long will it take until it won't work anymore?

I'm afraid you don't have many options

It is still possible to trick Confluence into using database storage in later versions, but it's not done in the UI, it is totally unsupported, it could vanish at any time (with an upgrade simply failing, and there's potentially no route to fix it), and requires fiddling with the internals.  So there's no circumstances under which I could recommend it.

I don't know when WebDAV will be fully removed.

I think the next question is "why can't you use local storage"?  Although, when it says "local", it really means that the storage needs to appear to be local.  The little Confluence I run at home runs on one disk with a NAS on the other side of the room mounting the attachments directory remotely.  It looks local to Confluence, but it's not.
