Hello there,
for my upcoming project I need to access the audit log of the users of confluence. My research aim is to analyze user behavior. While I was researching I came up with these questions:
1. When using the cloud version - am I able to access the database (to access the audit log)?
2. When using the cloud version - am I able to access the events of the category "End User Activity" (as described here: https://confluence.atlassian.com/doc/audit-log-events-in-confluence-1005333793.html)?
kind regards
Hi @Muffex and welcome to the community,
In cloud, you don't have access to the database. If you are an administrator and are not on a free plan, you can access the audit log. You can read more about that in this support article.
If research on user behaviour is what you are after, another source of information could be Confluence analytics - a feature of premium and enterprise plans.
Hello @Walter Buggenhout ,
thank you for your detailed answer for my first question!
But what about the second one? I'm specifically interested in exporting the events of the "End User Activity" as described in: https://confluence.atlassian.com/doc/audit-log-events-in-confluence-1005333793.html
Can these events be accessed from the cloud version?
Kind regards

Hi @Muffex,
From the support article I shared, towards the very end:
The audit log doesn't record information directly relating to pages such as page edits (you can see these in the page history) location, or changes to page restrictions.
By default, events are removed from the log after 90 days. You can choose to keep events for longer in the log settings(up to three years).
You can export the log to CSV format if you'd like to explore it in more detail, or if you need to maintain a longer term record.
That is why I referred to Analytics as an alternative. Depending on how far you want to dive into your analytics, you might want to take a look at EazyBI for Confluence as well, maybe.

Hi @Walter Buggenhout ,
thanks again for your answer. :)
I need to export the "End User Activities" (e.g. "Page created", "Page edited", "Blog post created", "Blog post edited", etc.) and integrate it with other external data.
Is there any way to export exactly these events via API?
Kind regards

I am not an API expert, but the Confluence Cloud API is documented and does have a set of audit records calls available. See the developer docs for more details.

Hi @Walter Buggenhout ,
thanks again for your answer and your patience. :)
I also searched several of Atlassians Docs (including the API Doc) to gain this information.
As far as I understand audit logs can be exported via API, but as I'm specifically intrerested in the "End User Activities" I need to know if these can be exported when using the Cloud Version.
Maybe someone else can provide help?

Do have a look at Analytics and EazyBI (demo account). Both include export options for your data and allow you to focus on end user activity.
