Does anyone know if there is a way to auto kill an expensive query rather than manually killing the thread.. say someone added a condition to a workflow/transition which queries JIRA projects (all) ... how does one kill it without a man in the middle... does JIRA (perhaps, plugin?) have this capability to detect/monitor/autokill?

As a JIRA admin, I'd remove it, and educate the person not to do things that break the systems. Prevent rather than plaster over a crack.
