Bug or feature: Pages are orphaned after restore from trash

Hi community,

I've come across of a (at least for me) weird functionality in Confluence and I'm wondering if this is a feature or a bug. When retrieving a page from the space's trash, the page will be restored to the root of the space, and not - as I would expect it - to be restored to the exact location in the page tree where it existed before. This results in the page to be orphaned.

According to the documentation at http://confluence.atlassian.com/display/DOC/Restoring+a+Deleted+Page this behaviour is normal, but then again I feel that the correct behaviour would be that the page would 'be restored to the exact location in the page tree where it existed before'.

How do you feel about it? Is it a bug or a feature? Do you know some workaround? Love to hear your thoughts!

This, in my personal opinion, is a feature. There is no guarantee if the old parent page still exists after the child page restoration, hence, it would be safe to restore to the root level instead.
