It is not possible to add a calendar in Confluence Cloud without using plugins.
You cant embed an external one either without using plugins.

What do you mean by "other types of Confluence"? If you just mean "server", it's the same answer.

You could manually build a calendar-like table, but it won't have most of the functions you expect it to.
You really should be looking for an app to provide calendars.
