Hi! I'm now connecting Confluence (server) to Jira(server) using Jira user server. https://confluence.atlassian.com/doc/connecting-to-crowd-or-jira-for-user-management-229838465.html#ConnectingtoCrowdorJiraforUserManagement-ConnectingConfluencetoJiraapplicationsforUserManagement

In step 1, when ask me for an IP address, I want to know if I can use a DNS instead an IP. When I try to use DNS an error appears, "invalid IP".

Do you know how can I solve this? Or if someone opened a request to change it?

Thank you!

Hi Angel,

I think it should be possible, according to this documentation request:

Allowing connections to JIRA for user management presents the following options when configuring an application to connect to JIRA:

  • A full IP address, e.g. 192.168.10.12.
  • A wildcard IP range, using CIDR notation, e.g. 192.168.10.1/16.

Using the hostname instead of IP address is possible, however, this is dependent on your DNS server resolving the specified hostname to the IP addresses that the incoming connections are sent from.

Can you give that a try?

Regards,

Shannon
