Can I install a Data Center app on Server?

We are planning to migrate from Confluence Server to Data Center. However, that will take some months. In the meantime, I would really like to test a marketplace app, which is unfortunately only available as Data Center or Cloud. Is it possible to test the Data Center version on my Server instance?

It could be possible yes, depending on the app.

You could download the DC version of said app, and manually upload it and install it within your instance. Following by creating and applying a trial license (DC) as well, even if ure in server.

Best case scenario you might get it to work with only a "incorrect license" message, and worst case; it won't run. 

But you could also contact the vendor directly, they probably have workarounds or could offer a demo :)

Technically, yes, the apps are usually the same code for Server and DC.

But you will not be able to get lenses for server apps.
