Can't change space permissions after upgrade to 8.5.1

Andreas Bauer September 21, 2023

We updated on Monday from LTS 7.19 to LTS 8.5.1 (using Linux and PostgreSQL). All is well, except users can no longer modify the permissions of any spaces (even though they see the change permissions page itself), including personal ones. When attempting a modification to the permissions, they end up on a "Not Permitted. You are not permitted to perform this operation"-page:

The confluence-administrator can still change the permissions though. There are no additional restrictions set via the lock symbol, and this happens with internal and LDAP-users alike. If we go to the Inspect permissions tab, Confluence says that a user is fully allowed in that space.

Moreover, it happens in our productive system and in a test system.  So we can rule out a broken database or the like...

Hence, I am almost certain that we're not the only ones seeing this...

Yes, that's it. Many thanks for your reply! We installed workaround and are waiting for 8.5.2 update.
