Hi,
Since we updated to Confluence 4.3 several people within the company can't edit page contents with chrome. The editor loads, but the content area is empty and not clickable.
We tried clearing cache and restarting Confluence already without success. Checking with Chrome Developer tools, the system fails to load http://xxx.yyy.com/s/de_DE/3388/9acf9d4587944743d0223df28e632431d99e8a2b.179/069fd4c44a58f5d516622f6f93a76373/_/download/contextbatch/js/editor,macro-browser,-viewcontent/batch.js?trycatchwrap=true
If I paste that file link directly in the browser, it's loading...Can this be causing the problem?
Everything works well in Firefox, but we prefer Chrome, so I'd really like to get this working again.
We ran into an issue with Chrome where the edit panel was super small and only part of the editor accepted mouse input. In order to fix it until we could upgrade we just added css to the customhtml area of the admin console to fix the size of the editor and it worked fine for the time being.

Is it possible you have custom javascript or css added to the page or space that could be breaking Chrome?

We're issues with Chrome as well. We can open the pages in edit mode, no problem, but when we click save or cancel, Chrome is directed to its about:blank page.
It doesn't affect all pages, but we're seeing it on pages built using lots of tables, section macros, and some html macros. Basically, a fairly complicated/deep DOM.

Sorry for the late reply, I was on holidays ;)
Unfortunately none of your suggestions solved the problem. I'll contact the support now. Thanks anyway :)

In addition to all above answers, try to go into Incognito Mode (Ctrl + Shift + N in Windows) and check the editor on Confluence again to truly rule out Cache and Cookie problem from Web browser.

In addition to the comments above, try to see if JIRA Connector plugin is disabled. Disabling this plugin may have an effect to the editor

Hi Superuschi,
Can I ask you, if you tried to access your Confluence outside of your company's network? I thinking that this problem could be related with some internet issues.
Lets see if that helps.
Cheers,
WZ

Hi Superuschi,
I haven't noticed any problems using Chrome and 4.3, and we havn't had any reports of major issues, so I suspect that the most likely cause in this case is something local to your instance. So as you seem to be havng a Java Script issue so I'd suggest that you start by flushing Confluence's plugin caches by following the steps outlined below:
1. Shutdown Confluence
2. Delete the following directories
<confluence-home>/bundled-plugins folder
<confluence-home>/plugin-cache folder
<confluence-home>/plugins-osgi-cache folder
<confluence-home>/plugins-temp folder
3. Restart Confluence
If this doesn't resolve the issue, try enabling plugin safe mode and if this resolves the problem then you can try to isolate the problematic plugin by enabling each one in turn. If you still don't find the source of the issue then please contact Support with a copy of your logs and referencing this Answer so we can update this question with the solution once the problem has been fixed.
All the best,
John
