I have a table that I created in a page that has quite a lot of entries and information in it. When I first set up the table I was able to centre-align the text in each cell using the cnetre-align button. This worked perfectly up until a few weeks ago.
Now, whenever I add any new rows of cells to the table, it only seems to allow me to align either right or left justified. The centre align text button is still there in the menu bar but it does nothing. Any cells which I originally set up are still centre-aligned, but any new content will only allow either left or right alignment of text.
Is this a bug? Or the result of so much information in a table? Or something else entirely?
Hi Thomas,
Can you tell me, is the table itself center-aligned on the page? What version of Confluence are you running?
Kind Regards,
Shannon
Hi Shannon,
I am not sure about the table itself. How can I check it's alignment on the page?
As for which version of Confluence we are currently using it is 5.8.10

How is the text on the rest of the page aligned? The table can be aligned the content around it.
I ask because there does seem to be a bug but it's specific to center-aligned tables:

The text on the page outside of the table is all left-justified. The table itself seems to be centre-justified on the page.
I attached a screenshot of a portion of the page. The cells that are centre-aligned are some that I set up in the table previously. This was all working fine up until a few weeks ago when all of a sudden any new cells or rows I add to the table only all me to align Left or Right within the cells. The previous cells remain centre aligned. But if I select one of those previous cells and change it to Left or Right aligned and then try to change it back to centre-aligned, then it doesn't work. The centre-align button is still there in the menu bar as you'll see. It just doesn't seem to work anymore :-/
It's a minor thing but it is quite annoying. And I don't want to have to go back and change the formatting for the rest of the table. This is just a small snapshot. I have a lot of information in this table.

Thomas,
Can you try to align the table to the left or right and see if you can center align the text inside? If you're not able to, you can try to install Confluence Source Editor and see if you can directly edit the alignment in the source.
Kind Regards,
Shannon

I don't seem to be able to align the table itself on the page. It stays centered no matter what and just stretches to the width of the page.
I'll try the Source Editor option but I'm not an admin at our company so I will have to get our service team to download and authorise it first.
Thanks for all your suggestions and help Shannon! :)

Thanks for that, Thomas.
Since it's a bug we'll have to work together to work around it. :)
Let me know if you have any trouble with that

Shannon

Hi @Shannon S, this appears to be present in the version we're running (6.0.3).
I can left- or right-align text inside a centre-aligned table, but I cannot centre-align text. Using the centre align button on text inside a table row behaves the same as removing any alignment.
Has this bug been squished in the latest release?

Hi Christopher,
In terms of the bug mentioned above, CONFSERVER-52798, it appears to still be an open case.
If you find this is the bug you're running into, I would recommend commenting on the ticket and watching it so you can be alerted when there is any progress.
Thank you for your understanding.
Kind Regards,
Shannon

Interesting that I'm the only vote. Oh well, one is better than none!
Thanks--

I see 2 users besides myself, perhaps some votes are hidden from you?
At any rate, it may be that not a lot of users have made use of that particular feature, or don't realize it's a bug, so having this community post will help a great deal.

Shannon

Hi there
Having the same problem here.
There's one ridiculous way of """"fixing"""" this: redoing the table, centering all the text first, and then centering the table in the middle of the page. Main problem: If you add a new cell with a new text, IT DOESN'T ALIGN IT PROPERLY AGAIN...
I am really tired of having to address this bug, I hope the developers find a way to fix it soon...

6.10.1 checking in. Still not fixed.
I can click the "edit" pencil next to each column heading and center that, but not from the editing page itself.
