Checking who can View a Page

I am a Site Admin for our Confluence account and am learning how to admin specific things.  I found a page that explained about Permissions and Restrictions with a link to a page about Checking who can View a Page (https://confluence.atlassian.com/doc/check-who-can-view-a-page-992678937.html). The page indicates that a system admin has access to turn this feature off or on.  As a user in the space, I cannot see an option for "People who can view" when I click on the 3 dots within a page. As an admin, the information linked above says to

  1. Go to <base-url>/admin/plugins/gatekeeper-plugin/global/configuration.action

to disable it (or I assume I can re-enable it if it's been disabled - I don't know why it would have been disabled in the first place or by whom).  When I attempt this, it takes me to a page that says it can't find the page I am looking for. I don't see any global configuration options on the site admin page. What access do I need to have in order to do this?  Can the Org & Site Admin person fix this for us?

How do I gain access to being able to fix this?

Hi Jana, System admin is more for Server and DC platforms. The link you have listed for the server platform but since you are a site admin ...you are definitely on the cloud platform.

Thank you for your reply, Ben!

Yes, I know we are on the cloud platform, but the Q&As available here aren't always clear about what platform the information refers to.

So, just so I can understand your response better - are you saying that the Cloud Platform doesn't have access to something like the "Check who can View a Page" aspect of Confluence? I am working on some other issues related to space permissions and parent-child page restrictions, and I hoped that being able to view exactly who of our users could see a specific page would help me understand better how to set space permissions and page restrictions.  How do I, on the cloud platform, see the list of users who can view a page?

You welcome. There's a tool for inspect permission but it's on the premium plan.

https://support.atlassian.com/confluence-cloud/docs/inspect-a-users-permissions/

For the manual way, you will need to check along these steps:

1. Check the space permission. If good, go to 2

2. Check the parent page. If good, go to 3.

3. check the child page. If good, then they have the permission to view the page.

Viewing page permission is inherited. So, it's always good to check the parent first.
