Confiforms - Rules for field definition - How to get changes in a file/attachments field type

Sopaboba October 19, 2021

Hi there

I have a form with a File/attachment type called let's say myfiles.

I am trying to set a Rules for Field definition, listening to the changes in that field. Basically my approach is trying to set value on another state field when the file is selected. But it doesn't seem to trigger any action. The file type gets the name of the field uploaded, but doesn't pass any value to the field that I am trying to set.

i.e. set value mystate=moved when !myfiles:[empty]

Is there anything that I can do or it's not simply possible?

Thanks again for your time.

Hi

I would suggest to do it via IFTTT macro - to update your record (having an https://wiki.vertuna.com/display/CONFIFORMS/Configuring+ConfiForms+IFTTT+actions+and+rules#ConfiguringConfiFormsIFTTTactionsandrules-Create(Update)ConfiFormsEntry IFTTT to run on the same condition !myfiles:[empty])

Tx. I was trying to avoid it, but certainly is the only way.

I have checked that the cloud version (as you have stated in your question you are using) works fine with getting the rules to execute when the file field changes

There is a bug in ConfiForms server though... that we fix in the upcoming 2.21

Thank U. I applied the IFTTT and works fine. Better than Rules, more stable and less conflicts than with the Rules chained.

The benefits of using IFTTTs is that they also work when you use REST APIs and dont depend on UI
