Confluence CQL, how can we do a search where we exclude a label?

Rising Stars are recognized for providing high-quality answers to other users. Rising Stars receive a certificate of achievement and are on the path to becoming Community Leaders.
In Confluence advanced search, we have criteria to skinny down results, but we are looking for a way to exclude label values as well.
We tried label!=stable but this still returned the stable labeled page.
Any suggestions would be welcome.
