Hello - new user to Confluence and Jira - liking what I'm seeing - wish I'd found Atlassian sooner!
Labels - are there any limits to the number of labels that can be used before performance degrades? That is, the quantity of actual labels and not the instances used.
Are we talking 100s, 1000s, 10,000s, 100,000s or perhaps it doesn't matter?
Still being at the planning stage and not wanting to build something unsustainable thought it prudent to check first. If there are limits (recommended or otherwise) I have a plan B.
Thank you.
@Sharon Halpin welcome to the Atlassian Community. Glad you found Confluence, it's a life altering event.
I don't believe there is any documentation on the impact of labels on performance. That being said, less is more is the general rule with labels. Since they can be used in searches and macros you will want to keep them organized and sensible. In some cases, like how-to documents a general label is enough. But there are cases where you may need a more specific label for a product, service or department in your organization. The beauty of it is that you can use more than one label on a page and your search and macros can aggregate them.
Here are a few things you should know about labels to help you organize your instance.
Good luck! Keep comin back to the community for any questions or points you may have.
@Andy Gladstone Thank you too for your quick reply and for the resource links.
I've watched quite a few of @Matt Reiner _K15t_ excellent videos but think I missed the labels one - will certainly check it out along with the other link - thank you!
Totally agree about being organised - I've got the schema mapped out for the labels and small scale testing so far is looking promising. If there isn't any documentation about limits on labels and I did search then I'll continue with plan A :-)
Thanks again to both of your - much appreciated!

Hi @Sharon Halpin ,
welcome to the Atlassian community!
Actually there is no limit fro label usage in a page. Btw, I think that label should be used with a correct criteria so I don' know what could be a use case with 100 labels associated to a single page.

@Fabio Racobaldo _Herzum_ Thank you for your quick reply.
It was the limit for the entire Confluence instance across all spaces and pages, not limit per page. Sorry if I didn't make this clear.
I've already discovered that labels can be used for dynamic reports across all spaces of the Confluence instance which is exactly what I want.
Thank you again.
