Is this possible? We are on Confluence Cloud and would very much like to link out to external/shared network drives.
I have seen some answers on Atlassian's Q&A pages, but nothing has produced a satisfactory result.
Thanks in advance for any help!
Hi Jim,
The most likely reason you can't connect is that your browser won't connect from a remote web page to a networked drive for security reasons. See Atlassian's explanation here: https://confluence.atlassian.com/confkb/cannot-link-to-local-files-from-within-confluence-216958257.html
You've got some options to make it work though. The following question deals with the same issue:
Confluence: How to place a link to a file on a server share in a confluence page?
There are multiple suggestions in there - primarily, and weirdly, using 5 forward slashes - and one of them will hopefully work for you.
There is also the HTML add-on which will allow you more latitude as you will be able to use standard HTML to write the link.
Hope that helps.
Hi Rob – yes, we tried following the pathway described in the answer linked below, as well as some other related solutions (also in the Q&A area). Nothing has proven to be successful, so perhaps someone can provide further instructions and/or context.

Thanks,
