Moved from Confluence Cloud to Confluence server.  Attachments on a page are at in cloud as a .dms but when you preview it shows as a .pdf.  In server can not preview the file at all.

We are not sure why the fields are being displayed with an extension of .dms since they were to be .pdf.  Found the workaround that if you changed the property type what was set to application/octet-stream to application/pdf resolved the issue.

Hi Brian,

I am not familiar with the .dms file type. Based on my clumsy googling, it is a file compression format. Please let me know more about your case:

  • Were the files uploaded as .dms or .pdf when first attached?
  • Where do you see the .dms file type on your Cloud instance, in the browser's Developer Tools, or on the attachments' properties for example?
  • In Server do the files also have the .dms extension?
  • What error do you see in the server instance when you try to preview the files?
  • Does it matter what browser you use to preview the files?
  • If you upload a new .pdf to Confluence Server can you preview it?

Thanks for gathering all this info, I look forward to taking a deeper look.

Ann
