Confluence Creations and Edits

Matthew Dartez March 9, 2016

How can I get a grand total of articles created, edits and comments from our confluence page?  My CIO would like to know how active we've been so we can justify another licence buy.  This also will help us with trending so we can have status reports.

A lot of us would recommend monitoring page hits etc, but there's a quick and dirty way to get some basic information.

Look at the system information page, it will list numbers of

  • Pages (which is actually current active pages, not the old versions)
  • Total number of pages (i.e. all the old edits)
  • Comments
  • Users (numbers that can log in, not useful for "activity", but knowing how close you are to a new licence tier)

The bit that distorts this is page deletion and personal spaces.  Deletion loses the history, and personal pages can often be full of junk.  (Well, if other people use personal spaces the way I do, then it's definitely a lot of junk)

Nic,

Could you clarify...I see on our System Information page information for: 'Content (All Versions) and Content (Current Versions), which may map to your 'Pages' and 'Total number of pages'?  I don't see 'comments' or 'Users', but do see 'Local Users' but it's misleading (a huge number that is 3X our employee base, so maybe includes everyone's email aliases, as we are sync'd with Active Directory?).

We are running Confuence Server 5.6.6. Did the terminology change or am I looking in the wrong area?
