If I set only a certain group to have access to a Confluence Space, how does it work with Page restrictions? If I click on the lock, it defaults to anyone on Confluence can view and edit. I haven't clicked on save, but it is odd that this is even an option because only the 10 people in the group should have access to the space. Or is this just for that one page?
I thought the page restrictions would just further restrict access from the 10 people in the group? My concern is that everyone can view the pages in the space (I haven't set any page restrictions yet) when I only set the space permissions for that one group. Or again would it just share that one page with everyone?
but wouldn't I just use the share feature for that? Super confused here, appreciate any help I can get, thank you so much!!!
Hi @Andrea Robbins Let me give you some basic working of Space permissions and Page restrictions.
If you have given view permission to your space for group A which has 10 users in it, then every page created in your space will be by default visible to these 10 users and not to any other users apart from these group members.
And there are certain pages which you like to be visible to only 5 users from the groups A then you can add view restriction to those pages and add these 5 users to in the view restrictions, this will allow only these 5 users to view the pages and remaining 5 users will not be able to view these restricted pages.
To view the restricted pages, user must have added in the view restrictions list and should also have view page permission on that Space then only user will be able to view that restricted pages. If user added in view restriction but does not have view page permission on Space then that user will not able view those restricted pages even they are added in the view page restriction.
Let me know if you have any questions on this.
Thank you so much for this explanation! So just to be clear there is no way for other users outside of group A to get access to just one page if only group A has access to the space? So they would be able to view the one page from page restrictions but not be in the space permissions.

Yes, IF they are not a part of group A they will not able to access the Page.

No, They will not able to view the page from page restriction as they don't have view page permission on the pages.

Hi @Andrea Robbins Welcome to the Atlassian Community!
When you click on the lock you can select 3 types of restrictions -
So in your case, its just for the one page where you are applying the restrictions. So if you don't set any restrictions, by default all 10 members of that group will be able to view/edit the page assuming they are also added as group in space permissions.
If you apply Editing restricted access to the group on the page, then the 10 members in the group can view and edit the page but other can only see the page.
If you enable Anonymous members access, everyone in your confluence site can view pages in your space. Anonymous users can be granted almost any permission, but it is recommend that you limit this to viewing and commenting.

Thanks! So if I would want to share just one page with a different group, all I have to do is select 2. Editing restricted to the group that has the access to the confluence space (as I don't want anyone but them to be able to edit) and then add who can view? Or for those to be able to view that one page, will they also need to be added to the confluence space permissions?

That's correct, by default everyone who is added in space permissions will be able to view the page, but if you want to restrict viewing to few people, then you can specifically add users/groups who can view ( those users/groups should be part of space permissions). If you allow anonymous access in your space, you can setup anyone to view the pages in your space, where in you don't need to add users/groups to space permissions explicitly.
