[Confluence Questions] Administrating questions without using reputation based permissions?

James Bedwell May 29, 2019

Are there any ways to adminstrate the Questions plugin without using the reputation-based permissions feature?

We artificially inflated our own scores as a hacky workaround so that we could administrate questions - but we are now delegating questions administration to various users of the instance and this isn't scalable.

We also want to avoid the risk of other users artificially inflating their own scores to gain admin rights.

In addition, we also want the ability to grant Questions admin rights on a per-space basis.

Do any of these features exist?

Hello James,

Welcome to Atlassian Community. It's great to have you!

The Reputation Based Permissions is a setting that can be toggled on and off.

  1. Go to  > General Configuration > Confluence Questions Customization.
  2. Select/Unselect Reputation Based Permissions
  3. Choose Save.

See Questions > Permissions for more details.

Otherwise, anyone with Confluence Admin permissions can delete any question or answer. If you want to be able to assign other users to be administrators of Confluence Questions, there is not a way to do that right now, but we have a few feature requests you might be interested in:

  • CONFSERVER-51720 Allow specific groups (e..g admins/space admins/other) to create topics
  • CONFSERVER-51753 As a Confluence administrator I would like to assign users to be Confluence Question administrators
  • CONFSERVER-51700 Ability to assign moderators / curators within Confluence Questions

Please feel free to vote on the requests that you would like to see, comment with your feedback, and watch the ones you want to get updates on.

Let me know if you have any questions about that.

Regards,

Shannon
