Is there a way to create a space for business cards, then automatically generate an A-Z index by last name?

Hi Mike,

Interesting idea! There's not a native functionality in Confluence for storing contacts on business cards, but I can think of a few ways you can make this happen...

File list blueprint

This one manages business cards as a list of files.

  1. Using the File List Blueprint, create a file list called "Rolodex".
  2. Upload business card images, with the file name starting with contacts last name.
  3. You will then see a list of all your business card images on the "Rolodex" page, which can be sorted by file name.

Page properties report

This one involves creating a page for each business card. This will take a little more work to set up, but it has a cleaner look and is more dynamic in the information it can show. There are many ways you could set this up, but here's an example:

  1. Create a "Business card" page template with the following features:
    • Page Properties Macro that includes a table to be filled out with any relevant contact info (e.g. "First name", "Last name", "Company")
    • A label to identify business cards (e.g. "business-cards")
  2. Set a "Rolodex" page with the following:
    • Create From Template macro, to add new business cards using the template.
    • A Page Properties Report macro, set to show all pages with the "business-card" label, sorted by last name, displaying whatever columns you want (based on the information you included in the Page Properties Macro).
  3. View all your contacts on the "Rolodex" page. To add a new business card, simply click the "Add business card" button, upload the image, and save.
