Confluence and Sophos XG firewall

Hi,

I would like to ask you guys for advice because I have some issues with editing the pages.  My Confluence instance is behind Sophos XG Firewall with Web Server Protection (WAF) set in place. I'm able to access confluence from internet but when it comes to editing pages there is an issue and I cannot find any articles how to set this correctly. Would you be able to help?  I also want to set HTTPS connection to Confluence

Best Regards

Raf

Configuration was actually very simple

Under Web Server create new server type https and set custom confluence port

Under Firewall you have to create Business application rule that listens on specific interface on port 443 and requests coming from specific domain name.

Under protected servers select earlier creates Web Server and you should be ready to go

About the problem, we need more info on what the problem is when trying to edit pages.

  • Are you seeing an error message?
  • What version of Confluence is this?
  • Are there errors in the confluence logs when this happens?
  • Or are you only seeing errors in the browser session logs (developer tools in Chrome can help display if these are happening)

In regards to setting up confluence to use SSL, there are several guides by Atlassian, but these are typically for other software proxies like nginx, or apache.   There is also a guide for using SSL when Confluence is not behind a proxy.

But I am afraid we don't have a specific configuration guide for such hardware devices.  It can probably be done, but it largely is dependent upon the way those products are configured and Atlassian does not have detailed knowledge of these other products.  You can probably use the Apache guide as a template to understand what changes have to happen to both Confluence and firewall/proxy in order to make this work.
