Confluence database not pulling comments in Jira issue details field

Lisa Ness January 26, 2024

I'm trying to set up a new Confluence database for project status reporting and I'm having trouble with the 'Jira issue details' field.  I'd like it to pull in the comments from the Jira tickets I've linked in a 'Jira issue' field but nothing is being displayed.  I've gotten it to work for other fields like description, so I'm not sure what the problem is.  The only thing that looks off to me is the Jira field listed in the drop down - it's called 'Comment' and not 'Comments' plural so I'm wondering if it's actually referencing another field called 'Comment' and not the actual comments section at the bottom of the Jira issue screen?  I checked our custom fields and didn't find any named 'Comment' so perhaps this feature just isn't fully supported yet?

Hi @Lisa Ness

Welcome. I remember sometime back I ran into a similar issue trying to pull comments. If I recall, it has something to do with comments being a dialogue and not like a field like description. So, I was able to work around with a tool to store the last comment as last comment field.

Hope this helps.

That makes sense.  I found this post from a few months ago that shows how to copy that over into a custom field so I think I'll give that a try and see if that solves it.  How to display Last comment in Filter, JQL and any... - Atlassian Community Thank you!

Yep. That should give you the last comment value. All the best!

That fixed it!  Thanks again :)
