Confluence won't start

I've never seen this before but Catalina.out stops with:

2022-03-10 11:46:08,800 INFO [Catalina-utility-1] [com.atlassian.confluence.lifecycle] contextInitialized Starting Confluence 7.16.2 [build 8803 based on commit hash 428a091e6a91039da789bf5c78ab59daf24bf7e9] - synchrony version 4.0.0-master-bfb398fb

then Atlassian-confluence.log never gets any new stuff. It just sits there but doesn't tell me why it's not starting. Anything I should look at?
