Hello,
I have been attempting to use the Database feature, and for the most part it works, however with the Link Field there is an option to use a template (which I have created) however, attempting to pull in this template when creating a new entry yields no results.
Is this a bug or what is the purpose of using Page Link Templates?
For context, the outcome I am trying to achieve here is not need to duplicate a confluence page every time I want to create a new entry (which is the process I currently need to do for every entry). I am hoping that by creating a template, whenever I create a new entry, the page link field creates a new doc using the template
(Note: this is how Notion databases and template buttons currently function, its very simple and easy and I wish confluence DB can do the same).
Hi @David Gregory ,
welcome to the community!
First of all, what you're trying to achieve does work; we're using templates for new pages in specific databases for a while now.
Just to be sure: Your field is a field of type "Page Link", correct? I think your screenshot is cut off, so the name and type isn't visible.
Then: The template is only applied to the page directly, if you're actually creating the page from the database. If you click Add entry and then select an existing page, it doesn't apply the template to it afterward.
The creation of a new page works as follows (I'm explaining this, because I realized that the UX is still a bit choppy):
Opening the page using the link of the Page Link should open the page which should use your template.
If that didn't happen, please share the steps you took and the results you've got, so we can look closer at the issue.
Greetings
Philipp
