Creating a header

Using Confluence 6.6.1

I'm not new to Confluence but I've been away for over a year, and have never worked with the CSS style sheet before. I'm trying to do a custom header, so I checked out this page:

I've tried the code in this example (with our own image) over and over, and all I get in the header is this :

#header aui-header
Unknown macro { background image}

Either I'm doing something wrong or else something is wrong with the code or instructions, but I have no way of knowing which. My boss, who is more adept with CSS than I am, gets the same results. Any ideas?

Hi,

Please make sure the code be pasted into Stylesheet text field, I was able to recreate the Unknown macro issue when I pasted the code into Sidebar, header and footer > header text field.
