Custom Markup Syntax

jonb August 13, 2020

We would like to have custom markup to display keyboard and mouse shortcuts on the page.

For example, type something like (((SHIFT))) + (((A)))

and it translates to icons of the Shift and A keyboard buttons.

Are there any plugins already out there?

How could something like this be achieved?

I have something setup using simple html tags and css in the html macro, but having something more integrated into the editor would be nice.

I think you will need to insert graphics of the keys, OR create a user macro takes advantage of your CSS. Or maybe you can just add your CSS to the space CSS to autoformat your shorthand?

Yeah, I was thinking CSS and images as needed. but I didn't know if there was a way to interpret the text in the editor.

I've tried just a simple user macro, but it adds the large box in the editor and breaks the flow of text.

Yes that is normal, but it will render properly when  you view the page (make sure the macro is set to inline. To have it do otherwise wold require a more complex solution.
