Hey All,

I'm doing some maintenance and discover that users have creating an Atlassian domain our side our company and are using the company user.

I want to delete those accounts but the option is not open.

i have made sure all domains are removed, and the only app (Confluence) is there but i cant remove it thus i can delete the org.

anyone was able to handle this issue?
Thanks.

Ariel.

Hey @arielei,

Welcome to the Atlassian Community! I'm Matheus, and I'm here to assist you with your case.

It looks like you’re encountering a common challenge where you want to delete an organization, but a Confluence site is still attached. Let’s break down what’s happening and how we can address this:

  • All associated products (like Confluence) must be removed before you can delete an organization.
  • You can cancel the site subscription, which puts it in a soft-delete state until the end of the billing cycle.
  • Until the site is completely deleted, the “Delete organization” button will not be available for you.

What you should do:

  1. Cancel the Confluence subscription from your admin portal (admin.atlassian.com).
  2. Wait for the billing cycle to complete for the site to transition into the soft-deleted status. You can reach out to our billing team to speed this process up: https://www.atlassian.com/company/contact/purchasing-licensing

The "soft deleted" state has a grace period during which it is not yet fully removed, and recovery is still an option.

The final, permanent (hard) deletion of the Confluence product and its data may take some time, depending on your specific Confluence subscription. For additional details, feel free to check out the Data retention period section of our documentation.

If the product is still visible or if you're unable to completely delete the site or organization after the grace period, reaching out to Atlassian Support will be necessary to resolve the issue. You can talk to the "Cloud Administration" team via our portal: https://support.atlassian.com/contact/

For more information about organization deletions, you can check out our documentation about organization deletion.

I hope this is helpful information, Ariel! I'll be here to help if you have any other questions or concerns. :D

Hello @arielei ,
Yes, this sometimes cause issues to me; but trust me, what you see now is correct process. think; when you accidentally try to delete an production org !

Related to your ask: Have you delete or removed all the application or product of this org? If so, are they still in YET-TO-BE-DELETE-PHASE? If so, then you may need to wait a bit.

If not, I've asked Atlassian support team to check about this "Help is on the way! An Atlassian Support Engineer will review the post and respond on this thread within 2 business days."

They will actually hide this org from your profile and from others as well, and it will be delete later.
