Hello Alexandre,

Thank you for bringing this up to us.  I've tested this now myself, but I am not able to replicate it.

  1. Are other users seeing the page in the sidebar long after you delete it?
  2. If you were to refresh the page and clear your browser cache, does the issue persist?
  3. Does this occur with all pages that you delete?

Regards,

Shannon

Hello Shannon,

Some answer:

1. Yes others still see them too

2. I did CTRL-F5 to force reload and tried with Edge that I never used and still see the problem (sorry don't want to clear my cache)

3. Yes, but so you know what I did was I replaced the top page of a hierarchy using the 'import word document' and in the option I did select 'replace' as well as delete child page.

Hello Alexandre,

Is this problem only on Edge, then, or can you replicate it in Chrome or Firefox? I don't have a copy of Edge to test but if you can verify which browser it occurs in, it'll help us to narrow down the bug.

I want to understand more how you are replicating it. Is the User Documentation page the one you're importing as a Word document, so you're wanting it to delete the child page of that, which is the Document Symbols page? If you were to delete a page normally, does the issue also occur?

Regards,

Shannon

Hello Shannon,

No the problem is seen on all browser. Chrome is my main, but I didn't want to clear my cache so I tried on Edge. Explorer also show the problem.

For replication, I have a page, User documentation, that have a lot of child. I needed to delete all the child. Since there is no easy way to do it in Confluence a workaround I found is to import from word the parent page. When you do this you have the option to select 'Delete existing children'. It works fine in the sense all the childs are deleted (I can't access them and I see them in the thrash), but they still show on the sidebar hierarchy.

Hello Alexandre,

Thank you for confirming that. I see the workaround in the feature request ticket CONFCLOUD-5974

It could be that the pages are still in the index, at which point you would want to contact the Cloud Support Team to have your index reindexed immediately. Otherwise, it would run eventually on its own. Can you tell me if the next day the pages are still listed on the sidebar? If they are, then definitely contact the Cloud team to reindex your site. If that doesn't help then they will be able to work with you to determine why the page tree is not being updated.

Shannon

Hello Shannon,

Yes it do looks like an index issue... I tried on a new page on Thursday and it was gone on Monday (was still visible on Friday). I still think it is a bug since if I explicitly delete a child page it is gone right away from the sidebar. Looks like the 'delete child' in the "import from word" does not trigger a reindex.

Alex

Thank you, Alexandre!

I was able to replicate the issue on my end and I've raised this as a bug below:

  • CONFCLOUD-67130 Pagetree doesn't refresh after deleting existing children during Word Import

If you're still having any issues with any other pages, you can contact Cloud Support and they can manually reindex your instance.

Select This affects my team on the bug that I linked above and you will automatically be added to the list of watchers and be updated of any changes.

Let me know if you have any further questions!

Regards,

Shannon
