Do you need a specific macro to take advantage of Anchor links in confluence?

I am getting a "The markup provided is not valid link markup" error when trying to link to an anchor macro in the same page.

Do you need an additional macro to use anchor links? 

(I'm setting up templates in a new wiki instance)
